This is an overview of Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under. This entry discusses ageism and racism so please continue at your own discretion.

Welcome to our overview of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 2. In this entry we will be breaking down the season by focusing on the ten contestants that competed in order of last place to winner. As well as concluding with my overall thoughts on the season. Beverly Kills was the sixth eliminated contestant on Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under placing her in 5th place overall. During her time on the season she represented her country of Australia, she won no Mini or Maxi Challenges.

During her time on the season she represented her country of Australia and the Māori community, she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 3 and 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 1 the Design Challenge.

3rd Place

Kween Kong

Kween Kong was the eighth eliminated contestant on Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, she was eliminated alongside Hannah Conda but as she had less wins overall we will be placing her in 3rd place. During her time on the season she represented her country of New Zealand and the Tongan and Samoan communities, she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 5 and 2 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 5 alongside Spankie Jackzon and Hannah Conda and Episode 7 the Girl Groups and Make-Over Challenges respectively.

2nd Place

Hannah Conda

Hannah Conda was the ninth eliminated contestant on Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, she was eliminated alongside Kween Kong but as she had more wins overall we will be placing her in 2nd place as the seasons runner-up. During her time on the season she represented her country of Australia, she won 3 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 4, Episode 5 alongside Spankie Jackzon and Kween Kong and Episode 6 the Snatch Game, Girl Groups and Advert Challenges respectively. Hannah Conda addressed her previous racist behaviour in past performances during the season making her the second contestant in the Down Under franchise to address their racist past after Scarlet Adams on Season 1. She acknowledged why her behaviour was wrong and promised to educate herself and grow as a person going forwards.

And the Winner is…

Spankie Jackzon

Spankie Jackzon was the winner of Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under making her the second New Zealander to take home the crown after Kita Mean on Season 1. During her time on the season she won 3 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 2, 3 alongside Yuri Guaii, and 5 alongside Hannah Conda and Kween Kong.

Overall I enjoyed this season of Down Under more than the previous season, but it still wasn’t one of my favourite seasons in the entire franchise. I appreciated the important discussions surrounding ageism within the Queer community which isn’t addressed enough and also the discussion around racism. I hope the franchise continues on this upwards trajectory going forward and stops casting contestants who have racist backgrounds, the first season was rampant with controversy because of its cast and although the discussions are important ones to have, we should be giving a platform to those it directly affects and not to the perpetrators. Despite that this season included a lot of talent and I look forward to seeing where the contestants go from here.

So that was it for our overview of Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under I hope you enjoyed it, our next overview in this series will be for RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race Season 2. Until then I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda, or nos da wherever you are in the world especially if you’re in or from New Zealand or Australia byeee.

Miss Fiercallicious

Miss Fiercallicious was the ninth eliminated contestant on Season 3 of Canada’s Drag Race. She was eliminated at the same time as Kimmy Couture but as her name was called first we will placing her in 4th Place overall. During her time on the season she won 2 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 6 and 8 the Advert and Ball Challenges. Miss Fiercallicious was one of three Nonbinary contestants on the season alongside Kaos, and Irma Gerd.

3rd Place

She was eliminated at the same time as Miss Fiercallicious but as her name was called second we will placing her in 3rd Place overall. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 7 and 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 2 the Stand Up Challenge. Kimmy Couture was the only Trans Woman to compete on this season.

2nd Place

Jada Shada Hudson

Jada Shada Hudson was the eleventh eliminated contestant of Season 3 of Canada’s Drag Race placing her in 2nd Place overall as the Runner-Up of the season. During her time on the season she won 2 Mini Challenges in Episodes 4 and 6 and 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 3 the Lip Sync challenge.

and The Winner is…

Giséle Lullaby is the first French-Canadian Contestant to win Canada’s Drag Race. She is the fourth Francophone winner in the franchise after BeBe Zahara Benet winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 1, Leona Winter winner of The Switch Season 1, and Paloma winner of Drag Race France Season 1.

Overall I of course enjoyed this season. I thought there were a strong group of contestants and I could see any one of them winning. All of my personal front runners went home in the first half of the season which I’m okay with as it means I get to focus on the contestants I was overlooking up to that point. As always I don’t like it when they eliminate two contestants right before the finale not giving them the same opportunity to win but that’s just how it goes I’m afraid. This was one of the strongest seasons of Canada’s Drag Race yet and I look forward to more in the future.

So that was it for our overview of Season 3 of Canada’s Drag Race I hope you enjoyed it, our next overview in this series will be for RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 2. Until then I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda, or nos da wherever you are in the world especially if you’re in or from Canada byeee.

The DisneyVerse Timeline in Chronological Order – Part 1 {Entry #77}

Prefer to Listen? Check out the Audio/Video Version of this entry here – https://youtu.be/KzO9s4CCF98

Welcome to Part 1 of The DisneyVerse Timeline in chronological order. This is a different series to what we usually do so I’m excited to start it. This series is based on my DisneyVerse Timeline which you can find here – https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/2243086 and over on our website. It features all 60 Official Disney Animated Classics and their related shorts and series’ in chronological order of in-universe timeline.

This entry will focus on the timeline from Pre-History down to 200 BCE. I created this timeline to help me come up with a future series where we connect every Disney Animated Classic together. Some films are composed of multiple segments, which will be broken up into different entities to make things easier, as some segments may not take place at the same point in time as others. This timeline is based on fictional properties and is by no means supposed to be taken seriously, it’s just a bit of fun.

The ways we find out the time period for each entity will differ depending on the context of the subject. Some properties will be studied based on real word historical cues whereas others will be based on when the source material is set or was published. If you think any of the placements in this timeline are wrong feel free to comment. The timeline can always be amended.

This entry contains spoilers for All Segments for Fantasia (1940), The Lion King (1994), Hercules (1997), Fantasia 2000 (1999), Dinosaur (2000), Brother Bear (2006), Moana (2016), Raya and the Last Dragon (2021).

A big thank you to Kieran my close friend who created the images you see in this blog entry, you can support him over on his Instagram here – https://instagram.com/the_wyrms_emporium?igshid=ymmymta2m2y=

With that said let’s get right into the timeline.

Pre-History

Fantasia: Rite of Spring, and Dinosaur

We kick off our timeline with the film Dinosaur and the Fantasia segment Rite of Spring. The events of these stories take place before recorded time. And are surprisingly close together timeline wise. Dinosaur focuses on the events leading up to the end of the reign of Dinosaurs as the dominant species on Earth and Rite of Spring also showcases the meteor shower seen at the beginning of Dinosaur. Implying these two events are happening somewhat simultaneously.

It’s worth mentioning that the DisneyVerse is a fictional universe and therefore any dinosaurs showcased that may not actually have been alive during this time period don’t upset our timeline. It just means in the DisneyVerse these dinosaurs were roaming the earth at this time.

1800 BCE

Fantasia 2000: Pomp and Circumstance

The next entry on our timeline is the Fantasia 2000 segment Pomp and Circumstance. This segment follows Donald and Daisy Duck (the first and so far only Disney Classic to feature Daisy in a prominent role) as they recreate the events of the biblical story Noah’s Ark. This segment is based off of the biblical story of Noah’s Ark. Placing this story on the timeline isn’t easy but it is believed to be based off the Babylonian Flood which has been referenced as far back as the 19th Century BCE so we shall set this segment in the beginning of the 18th Century BCE giving at least a hundred years for the story to be well known enough to be documented.

This segment raises an interesting question about how Mickey and his friends work within this connected timeline. It’s a topic we will explore deeper in the future, but for now we will be taking the information we’ve received and assume this particular segment is set in the past. The fact that implies Donald and Daisy are somewhat immortal just makes it even better.

1590 BCE

Fantasia 2000: The Firebird Suite

Now we jump forward around three centuries to the Fantasia 2000 segment The Firebird Suite. This segment follows a nature sprite as she comes face to face with a Phoenix bird at the time of its death. Based on the look of the Firebird burning everything in sight it draws similarities to the Minoan Volcanic Eruption that is believed to have taken place between the years 1642-1540 BCE the landscape also appears similar with its lush green lands so I will be setting this event in the year 1590 BCE as a nice middle ground between this time period.

Segments like this don’t give us much to go off when it comes to timeline placement, so this is where we need to start being creative, to find this date I researched tirelessly trying to find some real life location and volcanic event that matched up with the setting of this segment. The Minoan Volcanic Eruption in question seemed the closest match at least in my opinion.

1277 BCE

Fantasia: The Pastoral Symphony

Jumping forward another couple of centuries we have the Fantasia segment The Pastoral Symphony. This segment is set on and around Olympus and features a mixture of Grecian and Roman gods showing that they interacted in the distant past or perhaps were interchangeable. This segment has to take place before the birth of Hercules as Zeus is shown without his wife and looks younger in general. If it can be assumed this segment is at least 100 years before Hercules’s birth it would be set in the year 1277 BCE.

1178 BCE

The Lion King

The Lion King comes next on our timeline. With the absence of any present humans it’s difficult to definitively place this film on the timeline, however due to Scar’s skin being seen in Hercules it’s safe to assume it takes place at least 1 year before Hercules in 1778 BCE.

For some of these entries such as The Lion King we need to resort to Easter Eggs for a more definitive placement on this timeline. Hercules’ lion pelt is unmistakably Scar and therefore we must assume the events of The Lion King takes place before he received it. This also works well thematically as The Lion King does draw inspiration from many biblical tales which are set in the distant past.

1177 BCE

Hercules

Of course Hercules comes next on our timeline. It’s quite a pivotal moment in our timeline as it helps anchor the events of two previous entries. So how did we decide on its placement in 1177 BCE? Well we resorted to The Disney Wiki where Hercules is mentioned to be set at least 3000 years before The Little Mermaid making it set in 1177 BCE so this is the year we will roll with.

How do we know when The Little Mermaid is set? Well you’ll just have to keep watching this series to find out. But for now I’ll leave you with the information that it’s anchored by another Princess movie. Look some stretching comes with the job. It’s all a bit of chaotic fun so let’s just role with it for now.

984 BCE

Moana

Speaking of Princess films the first of two in this first entry of our timeline series is Moana. This film is actually relatively easy to place as the creators of the film have candidly mentioned in the past that the film takes place 3000 years ago in Polynesia, if this is to be believed then 3000 years before the year of the films release in 2016 would be around the year 984 BCE. So that is where we will place it.

690 BCE

Brother Bear

Coming up to the last leg of this entry we have the penultimate entry on this list Brother Bear. For this film we had to take some real world cues to find its placement. The film is set in Post-Ice age Alaska. Inuit tribes began populating North America around 1000 BCE so we will place this film roughly 10 generations after that year in about 690 BCE to give time for these tribes to fully settle on their land.

200 BCE

Raya and the Last Dragon

Finally we have our second Princess film and the most recently released in this entry Raya and the Last Dragon. For this we also need to look at real world cues. Despite taking place in the fictional land of Kumandra the setting is confirmed to be heavily based on South East Asian cultures. Since Kumandra has only just reformed in the events of the film it’s likely this film takes place at least a hundred years before South East Asian countries began trading with other Asian regions as they need to put themselves and their home first setting this film in 200 BCE at the very latest.

So that was it for the first entry of our DisneyVerse timeline series. This was very chaotic to create, but also a lot of fun so I hope you enjoyed it. If you think any of these entries are wrongly placed feel free to let me know in the comments and I will re-evaluate their placement. Do ensure to check out the timeline I created on Timetoast linked at the beginning of this entry for more context. The next entry in this series will span the time period of the 2nd-15th Centuries. Until then I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda or nos da wherever you are in this great universe byeee.

Drag France Season 1 Overview {Entry #76}

Prefer to Listen? Check out the Audio/Video Version of this entry here – https://youtu.be/WwVPQRL2h1E

This is an overview of Season 1 of Drag Race France.

Welcome to our overview of Drag Race France Season 1. In this entry we will be breaking down the season by focusing on the ten contestants that competed in order of last place to winner. As well as concluding with my overall thoughts on the season. This entry contains spoilers to Drag Race France Season 1 so I recommend checking that out before continuing with this entry. In this entry we will also be switching between English and French since it gives me the opportunity to practice my French and it only feels fitting being that this is the first Season of Drag Race France. The majority of this entry will be in English but I will be numbering the placements and saying what I like about each contestant in French. So if you speak French please forgive me if I get any pronunciations wrong and let me know how to improve in the future. With that said let’s get into…

Les concurrents

A quick note to mention, two of these contestants technically share a certain rank as they went home at the same time but for the purposes of this entry I will be looking into their overall amount of wins to determine where we talk about them… without further ado let’s get into the contestants.

(10th) dixième place

La Kahena

La Kahena was the first eliminated contestant on Season 1 of Drag Race France placing her in 10th place overall. During her time on the season she won no Mini or Maxi challenges. Comme toujours, il est difficile de dire ce que je pense de La Kahena car elle est la première éliminée, mais c’est une reine forte et mérite plus d’attention à l’avenir.

(9th) neuvième place

Lova Ladiva

Lova Ladiva was the second eliminated contestant on Season 1 of Drag Race France placing her in 9th place overall. During her time on the season she won no Mini or Maxi challenges. Encore une fois, je ne peux pas dire grand-chose sur Lova Ladiva à part l’admirer comme l’icône qu’elle est. Elle partage un anniversaire avec moi, donc elle obtient des points brownie pour ça.

(8th) huitième place

La Briochée

La Briochée was the third eliminated contestant on Season 1 of Drag Race France placing her in 8th place overall. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 3. La Briochée was the only Trans Woman on the season and the first Trans Woman to compete for Drag Race France. J’admire tellement La Briochee. Avec Drag si inspirant et un goût comique incroyable. J’aurais aimé qu’elle soit allée plus loin et j’espère la voir sur All Stars un jour.

(7th) septième place

Kam Hugh

Kam Hugh was the fourth eliminated contestant on Season 1 of Drag Race France placing her in 7th place overall. During her time on the season she won 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 3 the Ball challenge.

Elips

Elips was the fifth eliminated contestant on Season 1 of Drag Race France placing her in 6th place overall. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 3. Elips was named Miss Sympathie (Miss Congeniality) of the season by her fellow castmates. Elips était l’un de mes favoris pour remporter la saison. J’ai adoré l’énergie qu’elle a apportée et j’aimerais la voir dans All Stars ou dans une saison de Vs The World.

(5th) cinquième place

La Big Bertha

La Big Bertha was the sixth eliminated contestant on Season 1 of Drag Race France placing her in 5th place overall. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 4.

Lolita Banana

Lolita Banana was the seventh eliminated contestant on Season 1 of Drag Race France placing her in 4th place overall. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 1.

La Grande Dame was one of two runner-ups on Season 1 of Drag Race France, but for the sake of this list we will be placing her in 3rd Place since she has less Maxi Challenge wins than the contestant in 2nd. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 2 and won 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 4 The Snatch Game.

Soa de Muse was one of two runner-ups on Season 1 of Drag Race France, but for the sake of this list we will be placing her in 2nd Place since she has more Maxi Challenge wins than the contestant in 3rd. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 6 and won 2 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 1 and 5 the Talent Show and Girl Groups Challenges. Soa de Muse is the only Nonbinary Contestant and the first Nonbinary contestant on Drag Race France.

Paloma

Paloma is the first winner of Drag Race France winning Season 1 of Drag Race France. During her time on the season she won 1 Mini Challenge in Episode 6 and won 2 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 2 and 6 the Acting and Advert Challenges. Paloma Is the first Francophone to win in the history of the franchise. Paloma a connu une solide course cette saison et sa victoire semble si juste. Elle a rendu son pays si fier et j’ai hâte de voir où sa couronne la mènera à l’avenir.

Overall I liked Drag Race France, it wasn’t my favourite international franchise I have to admit, but that was more to do with not understanding a lot of the references over the contestants themselves. It was a very strong cast and I can see them all going places in the future. I loved their inclusion of Drag Kings even if it was for one episode. I like Nicky Doll as the head judge and I’m enjoying this trend of previously competing competitors coming back to judge their own spin-offs no matter where they placed on the show. Nicky was a great fit for the role and she played it excellently. I look forward to seeing what season 2 of this franchise brings. The next entries in this series we will be making will be for Canada’s Drag Race Season 3, RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 2, and RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race Season 2. For now I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda, or nos da wherever you are in the world byeee.

Prefer to Listen? Check out the Audio/Video Version of this entry here – https://youtu.be/Wm_iBf_6AfU

Welcome to Part 2 of our five part ranking where we rank all 45 starting characters in the mobile game Disney Mirrorverse. This is a five part series consisting of four entries featuring 10 characters and a fifth with the Top 5 character designs.

As mentioned in the last entry. Disney Mirrorverse is an action role-playing mobile game developed and published by Kabam Games, Inc. The game includes characters heroes and villains alike from across Disney and Pixar franchises. These characters are known as Guardians, each guardian has been upgraded to fit into the games setting, an alternate universe called Mirrorverse which is being threatened by several famous villains. The Guardians have each been uniquely designed with their own powers and abilities to help aid them in combat. It’s these Guardians we will be ranking in this series.

Download Mirrorverse on the App Store here – https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/disney-mirrorverse/id1453908358 the app is also available via Google Play

My username is 66jayjay99 if you want to add me in the game

Please note we will only be discussing the first 45 Guardians released with the game, any future additions will be discussed separately. There are currently four additional Guardians that have been added since this ranking was decided, they will be discussed in their own entry after this series has finished in their own Ranking New Guardians entry.

This ranking will be based on my personal tastes and opinions and do not reflect on the work that went into each character by the developers. I do not intend to undermine the hard work that went into these designs and the thoughts behind them. No character is created equally some characters in this ranking may have comments which conflict with another’s. This is not a contradiction, my personal thoughts are some characters need less added to them than others. These comments will be further explained going forward. You do not have to agree with my ranking in fact I encourage you to share your own thoughts I would love to open a discussion with those who also enjoy the game. I haven’t sought out any other rankings to ensure I’m only ranking purely based on my own thoughts. With that out the way let’s get into ranking the characters from 35th to 26th.

35th Place

Tinker Bell

It doesn’t get much more iconic than Tink, which is why I’m so disappointed with this design. Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate it, it just doesn’t feel like enough. Having a giant golden Tinker Bell is a cool concept as an ability, but there are so many cool ways you can take her actual design. I would have leaned more into her more modern design, it offers so many more interesting looks to be inspired by. There’s nothing wrong with classic Tink, but it would be nice to see her physical self and not just a giant projection. If they wanted to keep her small, why not pair her with Peter Pan? Why not combine the two? There are so many more interesting ways to present her than what we got as an end result.

34th Place

Minnie Mouse

When it comes to Minnie Mouse, Iron Man or more accurately – Iron Heart is not the route I would have gone down. Heck I didn’t think anyone would. My main issue with this design is I just don’t get it. I understand her powers but there must be a better way to present them rather than throwing her in some armour. If it were up to me I would have bumped her onto the same level as Mickey, maybe make her a sorceress with the same colour scheme as him. Make them a pair, even from the rest of the sensational six Minnie sticks out like a sore thumb. Overall I’m not a fan of this clunky look.

33rd Place

Anna

Anna is often overshadowed by her sister Elsa, and unfortunately I feel this design does no help. Is it a bad design? No. But it is a boring one. It doesn’t feel like Anna, more like a generic armour. I like the concept of being able to channel elemental magic, but if I hadn’t been told that prior to seeing her look I wouldn’t make the connection. Anna deserves a look that feels like her, not a look that feels like armour just dumped onto her.

32nd Place

Ursula

Ursula’s design is good. It’s pretty cool, but it needs a little refinement in my opinion. I love the giant collar, but the cape and the giant scrolls feel too heavy for me. Ursula is a cecaelia that understands the importance of body language. So it baffles me why she would wear something that doesn’t flatter her body. The middle section squishes her in, it feels confining just looking at it. Personally I would lose the cape altogether and just have the collar attached to her dress/body. I would also lose the giant scrolls, I understand why they’re there, but I’m sure there is a better way to utilise them. She is a character that commands a room all by herself she really doesn’t need that much to stand out.

31st Place

Elsa

Elsa’s look is meh to me. It’s not good, it’s not the worst. But for Elsa it’s certainly not enough. I’m not sure what I expected from her design but this is far too basic for my tastes and amongst the other Guardians she doesn’t stand out to me. Which is a shame because Elsa is one of the if not the most iconic modern characters to come from Disney Animation. She deserves something more.

30th Place

Tiana

I like Tiana’s look I completely get where her design is coming from. I know who this Guardian is just by looking at her, but it’s a similar situation to Elsa, she just doesn’t stand out to me. Tiana needs something that really makes her look pop. I’m not sure what that is, perhaps her firefly friends could be integrated into her outfit somehow. Overall it’s a good design I just wish it stood out more.

29th Place

Buzz Lightyear

There’s not really much to say about Buzz, his design is decent enough. There’s not really much you can do to elevate his original design. So I can’t fault this design, they did a good job with him, he’s just not my favourite design overall.

28th Place

Judy Hopps

Judy is sleek, she’s clean, she’s sharp. Her look truly embodies her personality. I genuinely can’t find any flaws in this design, each detail is well constructed. There are just other character designs and characters I like more.

27th Place

Baymax

Baymax’s design is not my favourite I’ll admit, but I do love the little Easter egg stickers on his design. It’s such a cute touch and I’m a sucker for an Easter egg so he gets points for that. I think his design may have been more to my taste if it was more red with white highlights, only since his suit represents his armour which is of course red. But that’s literally the only thing I can think of. It was a decent job just not to my taste, which is fine because they’re not made solely for my taste.

26th Place

Ian Lightfoot

I can’t fault Ian’s design, I wouldn’t know where the heck to go with his design either. I think it suits him and suits his character so I can’t complain. Again there are just other designs that stand out more.

So there we have it for Part 2 of our ranking every starting Mirrorverse character. This part was a little bit shorter than the last one which is good because it means I didn’t have as many qualms with the character designs. Going forward I am naturally going to be more drawn to and impressed by the designs of these Guardians. We’re just entering the middle of the road section of our ranking so stick with us if you want to see who lands on top. As I said last time if the character designs you see in this entry interest you feel free to download the game on your devices App Store. Our next entry will focus on my ranking from 25th-16th until then I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda or nos da wherever you are in the world byeee.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7: All Winners Overview {Entry #73}

Thumbnail for All Winners

Prefer to Listen? Check out the Audio/Video Version of this entry here – https://youtu.be/MjybSlMO62o

This is an overview of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7: All Winners. This entry discusses controversial production so please continue at your own discretion.

Welcome to our overview of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7: All Winners. In this entry we will be breaking down the season by focusing on each of the eight winners that competed, the ordering of these winners is a little different to how we’d usually do things so we will explain that more in a moment. We will also be giving an overview of what I thought about the season at the end. This entry discusses major spoilers for RuPaul’s Drag Race Seasons 3, 5, 11, 12, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Seasons 4, 5, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 1 so I recommend checking out these seasons before we get into it, now let’s discuss what this season is and how it stands out against other All Stars Seasons.

All Stars seasons are known for their twists and this season was probably the twistiest there was bringing back eight winners from across the Drag Race franchise including winners from the main US franchise, All Stars franchise and the UK franchise.

But that’s not all; another big twist was nobody was sent home for the whole season until the finale. Instead the top 2 contestants of each episode got the chance to lip-sync not only for the win, but for the chance to block a contestant from winning a star in the next week.

Stars were the point system used with a star being awarded to both the top 2 of the week. The four contestants with the most stars by the last competitive episode were invited to lip-sync for the chance to be named Queen of All Queens, but still that’s not all. The other four winners were invited to compete for their own crown the She Done Already Had Hereses crown. Now we’ve briefly gone over the twists let’s discuss our…

Returning Winners

Since there were technically no eliminated contestants this season due to the cast comprising of all Winners, and having two separate races for the crown in the finale listing these winners effectively becomes a little confusing. So to make things simple we will be breaking this list into two groups starting with the She Done Already Had Herses group going from first to lose a lip-sync and up and then going onto the Queen of All Queens group. Since this season has two crowned winners the first group will be ranked with both their placement overall such as 8th place alongside their ranking towards their own groups crown which would be 4th place. Written as 4th/8th. With that said let’s start with…

Group 1: She Done Already Had Hereses

4th/8th Place

The Vivienne

The Vivienne originally competed on and won RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 1

The Vivienne was the first contestant to lose a lip-sync in the race for the She Done Already Had Herses crown placing her in 8th Place in the competition overall and 4th Place in the race for the She Done Already Had Herses crown. During her time in the competition she won 2 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 4 and 6, the Improv, and Girl Groups Challenges, she was blocked once and received a total of two stars overall.

3rd/7th Place

Jaida Essence Hall

Jaida Essence Hall originally competed on and won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12

Jaida Essence Hall was the second contestant to lose a lip-sync in the race for the She Done Already Had Herses crown placing her in 7th Place in the competition overall and 3rd Place in the race for the She Done Already Had Herses crown. During her time in the competition she won 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 3 the Ball Challenge, she was blocked once and received a total of 3 stars overall one of which was gifted to her by Jinkx Monsoon.

2nd/6th Place

Yvie Oddly

Yvie Oddly originally competed on and won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11

Yvie Oddly was the third contestant to lose a lip-sync in the race for the She Done Already Had Herses crown placing her in 6th Place in the competition overall and 2nd Place as the runner up in the race for the She Done Already Had Herses crown. During her time in the competition she won No Maxi Challenges, she was blocked once and received a total of 2 stars overall one of which was gifted to her by Raja.

And the 5th Placed contestant overall and Winner of the She Done Already Had Hereses Crown is…

Raja

Raja originally competed on and won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3

Raja is the winner of the She Done Already Had Herses crown and was 5th Place in the competition overall. During her time in the competition she won 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 8 the Acting challenge, she was blocked once and received a total of 2 stars overall. Raja is one of five Nonbinary contestants this season along with Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Shea Couleé, and Trinity the Tuck.

Group 2: Queen of All Queens

4th Place

Shea Couleé

Shea Couleé originally competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 and later RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 5 which she won

Shea Couleé was the first contestant to lose a lip-sync in the race for the Queen of All Queens crown placing her in 4th Place in both the competition overall and in the race for the Queen of All Queens crown. During her time in the competition she won 2 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 1 and 11, the Rumix, and Variety Show challenges, she was blocked once and received a total of four stars overall thanks to the finale twist giving her an extra 2 stars on top of the standard 1 per win. Shea Couleé is one of five Nonbinary contestants this season along with Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Raja, and Trinity the Tuck.

3rd Place

Trinity the Tuck

Trinity the Tuck originally competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 and later RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 4 which she won alongside twinner Monét X Change

Trinity the Tuck was the second contestant to lose a lip-sync in the race for the Queen of All Queens crown placing her in 3rd Place both in the competition overall and in the race for the Queen of All Queens crown. During her time in the competition she won no Maxi Challenges, she was blocked once and received a total of 3 stars overall. Trinity the Tuck is one of five Nonbinary contestants this season along with Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Raja, and Shea Couleé.

2nd Place

Monét X Change

Monét X Change originally competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 and later RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 4 which she won alongside twinner Trinity the Tuck

Monét X Change was the third contestant to lose a lip-sync in the race for the Queen of All Queens crown placing her in 2nd Place as the Runner-Up in both the competition overall and in the race for the Queen of All Queens crown. During her time in the competition she won 1 Maxi Challenge in Episode 9 the Advert challenge, she was blocked once and received a total of 5 stars overall thanks in part to the finale twist giving her an extra 2 stars on top of the standard 1 per win. Giving her the most stars overall on the season. Monét X Change is one of five Nonbinary contestants this season along with Jinkx Monsoon, Raja, Shea Couleé, and Trinity the Tuck.

and the Winner of the Queen of All Queens Crown is…

Jinkx Monsoon

Jinkx Monsoon originally competed on and won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5

Jinkx Monsoon is the winner of both the Queen of All Queens crown and the competition overall. During her time in the competition she won 3 Maxi Challenges in Episodes 2, 5, and 10 the Snatch Game, Stand Up, and Roast challenges as well as both the Mini challenges in Episodes 1 and 3, she was blocked twice and received a total of 4 stars overall. Jinkx Monsoon is one of five Nonbinary contestants this season along with Monét X Change, Raja, Shea Couleé, and Trinity the Tuck.

Overall I thought this was a really fun season. I loved the Legendary Legends Star twist though I felt changing the star giving system was a little confusing at times, especially just before the finale which many fans have been upset about. In the end it’s not contestants fault what the producers threw at them and with the two crowns on offer it didn’t really matter in the long run which group either were in. This season having two winners just feels correct in my eyes and though Jinkx is the main winner of the season overall I don’t think we should be discrediting Raja’s win as anything less than a win, she still won a crown. I loved getting to see all these winners return and would love to see more All Winners seasons in the future. We don’t usually go into rumours here but there is a rumour only Queens crowned by RuPaul can compete in an All Winners season which both makes sense and is disappointing. Winners can grow just like any other artist and they should be able to show that to the World perhaps in a …vs The World season? No matter the outcome of the season all of these contestants are literally Winners in their own right and worthy of their crowns.

So that was it for our overview of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7: All Winners. Our next overview in this series will be for Drag Race France Season 1 followed eventually by Canada’s Drag Race Season 3, RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 2, RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race Season 2, and Drag Race Philippines Season 1 in whichever order they finish in. In the meantime if you enjoyed these winners you can check our entry on every Drag Race Winner (2009-2021) both here on our blog and over on our channel. This will be amended early next year with 2022s winners. Until then I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda, or nos da wherever you are in the world byeee.

Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love Season 1 Overview {Entry #72}

Thumbnail For 24 hours of love

Prefer to Listen? Check out the Audio/Video Version of this entry here – https://youtu.be/mcUOxE3QmLw

This is an overview of Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love Season 1. This entry discusses ableism, arguments, coming out, and transphobia so please continue at your own discretion.

Welcome to our overview of Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love Season 1. In this entry we will be breaking down the season by focusing on the eighteen suitors that featured in order of first to go home to chosen by Vanjie. As well as concluding with my overall thoughts on the season. This entry contains spoilers to Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love Season 1 and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 and 13 so I recommend checking out the seasons before continuing.

Before we get into talking about The Suitors we need to first discuss what this season is. So what is Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love? Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love Presented by House of Love is the first and possibly only season in the 24 Hours of Love franchise. It’s described as being a social experiment where 18 Suitors are placed into the hosts’ house (in this case Vanjie) in order to vie for their affections and be chosen to start a potential relationship. Over the course of 24 Hours José (Vanjie’s out of Drag name) gets to know each Suitor through a series of activities and must send at least one Suitor home each hour. So now you know what it is let’s get into discussing…

The Suitors

Since the show is not technically considered a competition and is instead considered a Social Experiment the placements of these Suitors doesn’t necessarily equal a ranking these are just the numbered positions of when they were sent home. The Chosen Suitor is not so much a winner but simply the last Suitor standing by the end and in that sense would be considered equal to being a winner. For each contestant we will discuss a little about them, how they acted over the hours and give a brief summary of why José either sent them home or chose them. You can give each Suitor some love by clicking on their photo and following their Instagram. Most of the personal information for each suitor comes from this article from Out.Com https://www.out.com/television/2022/5/26/meet-men-competing-miss-vanjies-love-her-new-dating-show#media-gallery-media-9 Without further ado let’s start with…

18th Place

Zuri

Zuri Green aged 45 at the time the show filmed is a father of three and self proclaimed DILF. José didn’t get much time to know Zuri as it wasn’t long before he was asked to ask a Suitor to leave. After talking to the other Suitors José discovered that Zuri had someone waiting for him at home and that’s why he was asked to leave.

17th Place

Tommy

Tommy Pardee aged 33 at the time the show filmed is a huge Drag Race Fan who used to work for the Trevor Project. In past relationships he was deemed a villain but has since worked on himself to get to a place where he is comfortable dating again. Unfortunately he didn’t receive that chance on the show as he was sent home by José simply because he mildly resembles Rosé, Drag Race alum from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 and close friend of Vanjie.

16th Place

Tyler

Tyler Renner aged 30 at the time the show filmed is a passionate advocate for Queer Issues and joined the show in the hopes of finding a relationship outside of heteronormative monogamous societal norms. Despite having a good heart Tyler was sent home because he didn’t make a big enough impression during the brief time he was on the show.

15th Place

Kishan

Kishan Patel aged 32 at the time the show filmed was newly out before joining the show. Having been closeted for years due to their conservative home town and Indian Parents who arranged a marriage for them which was what lead them coming out the closet and leaving home. Kishan hoped being on the show would help them find their first Gay Relationship but their shyness caused them to be sent home early as they weren’t outspoken enough.

14th Place

Blake

Blake Vanamserfoorth aged 30 at the time the show filmed is a go with the flow, free spirit kind of guy looking for an individual who makes him laugh and voices their opinions. Despite trying to make an effort to impress Jose’s mum, the bottom line was she wasn’t feeling his vibe and that is unfortunately what sent him home.

13th Place

Nick

Nick Lorenzini aged 34 at the time the show filmed is a man seeking the white picket fence life, he wants to settle down, have kids and get married. Although he made a good impression on José at first as the hours continued he slipped into the background and José sent him home because he didn’t feel a connection.

12th Place

Craig

Craig Handy aged 31 at the time the show filmed is a thrill seeker that loves camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking. He was looking for the full package, a husband and a house in the hills, but it wasn’t in the stars for him and José as he was sent home because their star signs weren’t compatible.

11th Place

Anthony

Anthony Kairouz aged 23 at the time the show filmed is a lover of big personalities and usually dates the dominant Daddy types. Despite a few contestants having it out for Anthony because of his young age José kept him on until he was quizzed by Jose’s friends Violet Chachki winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 and Gottmik runner up of Season 13 where he was sent home after hesitating saying he was in the house for José.

10th Place

Brandon

Brandon Karson Jordan aged 27 at the time the show filmed is a model and entrepreneur in men’s lingerie. He was a controversial figure during his time in the show, often finding himself in arguments with other suitors in one instance stating the phrase to Derek “I’m not a girl, I have a penis” which is Transphobic rhetoric since there are of course many Transfeminine Women who have penises. We all say things we don’t mean in the heat of the moment, and I am in no way trying to insinuate Brandon is a transphobe. However there is never an excuse to use transphobic phrasing even in arguments and as a Trans Individual I feel it’s my responsibility to call transphobia out whenever I see it. Brandon overall was a good suitor if not a little in his own world at times, he was sent home after being caught napping whilst every other suitor and José himself were fighting to stay awake. We all need to sleep and I think it was somewhat unfair and arguably Ableist punishing Brandon for taking care of his body by letting it rest in a stressful environment.

9th Place

Ulisses

Ulisses Rivera aged 31 at the time the show filmed wants to find love with a sex-positive, ambitious-career driven individual. During the course of the show he mostly faded into the background which left it as no surprise when he was sent home for not being talkative enough.

8th Place

Javonte “Blu”

Javonte “Blu” Rosello aged 28 at the time the show filmed is an influencer, author, and entrepreneur. He was also a suitor that didn’t make a huge impact in the show, but being successful in his own right José sent him home because the two were both in different places in their lives.

7th Place

Ernesto

Ernesto Flores aged 36 at the time the show filmed is a deeply family-orientated and proud Latino and self proclaimed Hot Cheetos specialist looking for a serious relationship. Over the show Ernesto and José got on well but unfortunately they just weren’t as compatible as some of the other suitors.

6th Place

Dakota

Dakota Payne aged 32 at the time the show filmed is a porn actor and Drag Queen known as Gemini Dai who struggles to find a relationship due to his occupation this was unfortunately his down fall in the competition as he was sent home by José who couldn’t see himself dating a sex worker. We here at Under The Umbrellas support all Sex Workers and encourage you if you are over the age of 18 to support Dakota by subbing to his Onlyfans which you can find through his Instagram.

5th Place

Noel

Noel Anaya aged 34 at the time the show filmed is an acrobat and dancer. He’s Graysexual (GrayAce) seeking a non-traditional partner like himself. It’s so good to finally see some Ace representation in a show like this. The Aspec Community is so heavily overlooked and to see an Ace individual on a Queer Dating show warms my heart especially seeing how far in the show he got. Noel made it into the Top 5 but was sent home because Jose’ couldn’t see himself with him as much as the others.

4th Place

Jozea

Jozea Flores aged 30 at the time the show filmed is a music and television personality who has appeared on Big Brother, The Challenge, and Ex on the Beach. Jozea was a constant within the show never really partaking in the drama, but not being shy to comment on it in confessionals. He made it to Top 4 but was sent home as José saw him as more of a friend than a love interest.

3rd Place

Derek

Derek Viveiros aged 39 at the time the show filmed is an independent writer, producer, and director who has worked in the adult industry. He detests dating apps and wants to find love the traditional way. He was outspoken throughout the entire show which sometimes got him into arguments with other suitors but he made it to Top 3. On his private date with José he didn’t catch José’s hints to kiss him which unfortunately led him to missing out in the Final 2.

2nd Place

Jarrett

Jarrett Lantz aged 25 at the time the show filmed is a theme park designer who recently left a 6 year relationship. He was well liked by José’s Mum and a top contender for José’s heart, his private date with José went well, but he didn’t get chosen as José was still left with questions.

and the Chosen Suitor is…

Jack

Jack Janowicz aged 25 at the time the show filmed is an astrology lover and court stenographer which made it interesting when his anxiety made him fail some of the questions he was asked during a lie detector test on the show. He wanted alone time with José from the very start and got his wish when everyone else was napping, he was Jose’s first kiss from one of the suitors. His patience paid off as he was eventually chosen by José after he felt a connection and followed his heart. José and Jack are still dating 10 Months later.

I’m not usually a fan of Dating Shows since they are mostly overly Heteronormative but after seeing the premise of 24 Hours of Love I was intrigued to see how it would play out. Overall I enjoyed the show, it did feel a little rushed at times (which is fair as it was filmed over one day) and the camera work was very janky, but I found myself invested in all of the suitors and wanted them each to find happiness. None of the drama felt forced and I felt everyone involved in drama was both right and wrong at the same time. It felt refreshingly balanced for once. I’m so glad the social experiment paid off and both José and Jack are happy together, I hope they find happiness and support within each other indefinitely.

So that was it for Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love Season 1 it’s unclear whether or not the 24 Hours of Love series will continue with a different Drag host, but I hope it does as I see a lot of potential going forward and it clearly paid off. Next in this series we will be doing an overview of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7: All Winners. Until next time I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda or nos da wherever you are in the world byeee.

Ranking Every Character Design from Disney Mirrorverse: Part 1/5 ~ 45th-36th {Entry #71}

Prefer to Listen? Check out the Audio/Video Version of this entry here – https://youtu.be/pa_F22r7xeI

Welcome to Part 1 of our five part ranking where we rank all 45 starting characters in the mobile game Disney Mirrorverse. This is a five part series consisting of four entries featuring 10 characters and a fifth with the Top 5 character designs.

Before we start let’s discuss what Mirrorverse actually is.

Please note we will only be discussing the first 45 Guardians released with the game, any future additions will be discussed in their own short entries. With that out the way let’s get into ranking the characters from 45th to 36th.

45th Place

Hades – Hercules Franchise

Hades is such a fun character, he’s evil, funny and arrogant. He has this edge to his classic design that even though is quirky and unusual; can tell he’s evil. I’m getting no evil from his Mirrorverse design. There’s something about it that’s just too comical to me, not in a funny way in a oh that’s unsettling kind of way. The bulging eyes are what cemented him in last place for me, and what is going on with his neck? Is it a necklace? Is it a chain? I don’t understand it. Also his hair looks so bizarre to me. If I had to say anything nice about his design I do like his cloak, armour and shoulders. It’s a shame it wasn’t enough to stop him from coming last.

44th Place

Woody – Toy Story Franchise

For a while I debated whether or not Woody should have come last, he was only saved by Hades’ eyes. I know it’s controversial but I just don’t love this design, firstly it’s too human which isn’t necessarily a problem in itself but it comes across as too uncanny valley to me. My biggest gripe with his design though is the lack of colour, Woody has this gorgeous yellow shirt and cow print waistcoat which are staples for his design it feels like they’ve sucked all the colour and life out of him. If you want to go down the human route of the character that’s okay but a nod or something to his original design would help make it feel more Woody and less generic cowboy.

43rd Place

Anger – Inside Out Franchise

Anger doesn’t have a bad design per-say but the reason he’s so low down on the list is that he is far too simple. He looks almost exactly like his film version to the point if you put them together I’d struggle telling them apart. Going down the simplistic route isn’t bad in fact it does elevate a lot of character designs but having his basic model and giving him a sword doesn’t feel like enough for me. If they’d somehow infused molten lava into his skin making him ooze with heat it would add an extra dimension to him that his current design is missing. His description mentions his heat has been amplified, it would be nice to see that reflected on his design instead of just in play mode. Even though I appreciate that his tie has become his sword he’s still far too basic for my taste.

42nd Place

Frank Wolff – Jungle Cruise Franchise

Confession time, I’ve not yet seen Jungle Cruise. I will watch it eventually of course but as it stands I don’t understand enough about the character of Frank Wolff to comfortably say whether a good job was done or not. Looking at screenshots and character profiles it seems his design is true enough to the character but for me it’s just not memorable. He has a cool arm though, it’s giving Groot vibes but it’s a basic design that I wouldn’t miss if it wasn’t in game.

41st Place

Hiro Hamada – Big Hero 6 Franchise

The problem with Hiro Hamada‘s design for me is again that it’s too basic. There are actually times I forget he’s even in the game which is why he is so low down on our list. There’s also something off with the texturing of the models skin it looks far too rubbery, we’ve seen in other designs how smooth they can make the characters’ skins so why is Hiro’s so off? His costume is also pretty unassuming, he feels more like an action figure than a superhero. Altogether he just doesn’t stand out and he needs more.

40th Place

Maui – Moana Franchise

Maui again doesn’t stand out to me which is strange because he’s literally glowing gold. It’s not the gold that’s the problem for me it’s the execution, just painting a demigod in gold isn’t enough, what Maui needs more than anything is refinement if he’s going to be covered in gold I need to see gold flakes in his hair, gold pouring out of his eye sockets, his bare skin shimmering. There needs to be a balance there otherwise the end result is the gold parts being too gold and the not gold parts being too bare. He doesn’t need much more than a little glow up.

39th Place

*this next entry contains spoilers for the look of Zurg in the recently released Lightyear film*

Zurg – Toy Story/Lightyear Franchise

I don’t have much to say about this Zurg design, I think it’s cool, I love the nod to the original Toy Story 2 character whilst updating the model to fit the new Lightyear design. I’ve yet to see Lightyear so my attachment to this version of Zurg isn’t as strong as I’d like, but overall I think they did a decent job. He’s not the best he’s not the worst he’s just here because I like other designs more.

38th Place

Scar – The Lion King Franchise

These next two characters were difficult to rank, they both suffer from the same problem of being too simplistic. However I placed Scar here as the texture of his fur feels too cartoony for me, we could have gotten rough mangy fur but instead we have a smooth almost flat consistency. It’s the little touches that make all the difference, I really like the addition of his shadow but I feel they could have made it look less of a puddle of ink by having almost his whole design covered in shadow with his piercing eyes and sinister signature scar poking through. I don’t hate the design we have I just think there are some improvements that could have been made.

37th Place

EVE – Wall-E Franchise

EVE is in an interesting position I simultaneously think what we have isn’t enough whilst also not knowing how I would have gone about translating her design. I’m not fully keen on the elongated arms but I also think she needs them to stand apart from her original design. That’s all I really have to say about her, she just doesn’t stand out enough for me to comment anything more. She’s certainly not the best or most complex design in the game but that just shows how powerful her original design was.

36th Place

Scrooge McDuck – DuckTales Franchise

I love that this game includes television animation characters, it’s home to some of the most beloved Disney Characters there are, especially the classic cartoons we all have nostalgia for even if we weren’t alive when they originally aired which is the case with myself and the original DuckTales this model of Scrooge is based on. Overall I think they’ve done a good job with his model, his clothes are elevated and he stays true to his classic model in fact whilst writing this entry I bumped him up from 40th to 36th because I greatly undervalued his design in my original ranking. The only reason he’s not higher on this list is the simple fact there are character designs I prefer more and characters I understand better. I’ve seen the new DuckTales series and I love it but I don’t feel that same connection to the original classic despite appreciating it for it’s charm.

So that was it for the first part of our ranking of every Disney Mirrorverse character design. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I do. If the character designs you see in this entry interest you feel free to download the game on your devices App Store. Our next entry will focus on my ranking from 35th-26th until then I wish you bore da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda or nos da wherever you are in the world byeee.

Painted with Raven Season 1 Overview {Entry #70}

Prefer to Listen? Check out the Audio/Video Version of this entry here – https://youtu.be/uR01IyfoxmI

This is an overview of Season 1 of Painted with Raven. This entry discusses Blackfishing, and Racism so please continue at your own discretion.

Welcome to our overview of Painted with Raven Season 1. In this entry we will be breaking down the season by focusing on the seven contestants that competed in order of last place to winner. As well as concluding with my overall thoughts on the season. This entry contains spoilers to Painted with Raven, and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 so I recommend checking out the seasons before continuing with this entry.

This entry is coming out months after the finale first aired. This is for a couple of reasons. Firstly I didn’t watch the season as it was airing because I had no intention of making a video on it, this is because I deeply underestimated its ties to the Drag Race Franchise as a whole. It also takes a drastically different format to Drag Race Seasons so I wasn’t sure how I would go about discussing it in a similar way. After watching Queen of the Universe I decided to give it a go and wow was I impressed. The show is so much fun, and it’s such a casual and easy watch I managed to finish it all in the span of a day. The contestants are all so talented as well. But let’s not get too much into my overall thoughts we can discuss those at the end after we’ve discussed what the show actually is and the competitors.

So what is Painted with Raven? Painted with Raven is a makeup competition which sees different make up artists compete in challenges from the comfort of their own homes. There are no eliminations, instead a point system is put in place which determines the two contestants which reach the finale. The main host of the show is the titular Raven, contestant of Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Season 1 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Raven later became RuPaul’s personal makeup artist and as you can see from this overview was offered the opportunity to host her own show. The series features different guest judges who have experience in the world of makeup, this is how the show fits into the overall Drag Race universe as guest judges include RuPaul herself, Raja winner of Season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, host of Fashion Photo Ruview, current contestant on Season 7 RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: All Winners, and Lipstick Nik Michelle Visage’s personal makeup artist.

Each week contestants compete in a Maxi Challenge where they all receive points based on their performances. Top contestants receive 3 Points, Safe contestants receive 2 Points and the bottom two contestants both receive 1 Point and must battle it out in a Speed Paint Test to the determine who will be muted for the next week. The muted contestant can watch the other contestants compete but cannot compete themselves until the next week. Contestants can also win an extra point by winning the Homework Challenge which is set at the end of the week prior. For the semi final the point system was adjusted so the Tops of the week had their points doubled and the bottoms received no points at all. All contestants then had their points wiped to make it anyone’s game in the final. Coincidentally though the final point scores received in the end of the semi final correspond with the order of our ranking.

So now we’ve discussed a little about how the show works and how it connects to the broader Drag Race franchise let’s get right into discussing the seven contestants that made this show possible. Here are…

The Contestants

A quick disclaimer, since there were no eliminations for this season we will be ranking the four contestants who didn’t make it to the final in order of the points they received over the season. We will then rank the runners ups also by their points until we get to the winner. Fortunately the amount of points each contestant received including the winner corresponds to their place in our ranking so it feels like an accurate ranking in that regard. With that said let’s get into it.

7th Place

Ryan

Ryan was the contestant with the least amount of points earned on Season 1 of Painted with Raven placing her in 7th Place overall. During her time on the season she received a total of 6 Points and was muted twice for Episodes 2 and 4.

6th Place

Jordan

Jordan was the contestant with the second least amount of points earned on Season 1 of Painted with Raven placing them in 6th Place overall. During their time on the season they received a total of 9 Points, was muted once for Episode 3, won 1 Homework Assignment in Episode 4, and was a Top once in Episode 5 the Celebrity Look-alike challenge.

5th Place

Jamaun

Jamaun was the contestant with the third least amount of points earned on Season 1 of Painted with Raven placing him in 5th Place overall. During his time on the season he received a total of 10 Points, was muted once for Episode 5, and was a Top twice in Episodes 2 and 6 the Paper Dolls and #Twinning challenges.

4th Place

Bryce

Bryce was the contestant with the fourth least amount of points earned on Season 1 of Painted with Raven placing him in 4th Place overall. During his time on the season he received a total of 12 Points, was muted once for Episode 6, won 1 Homework Assignment in Episode 5, and was a Top thrice in Episodes 1, 3 and 4 the All That Sparkles, Werk of Art and Two Faced challenges.

3rd Place

Yvonne

Yvonne was the contestant with the third most amount of points earned and the Wildcard on Season 1 of Painted with Raven placing her in 3rd Place overall as one of two runner ups alongside Tajh. During her time on the season she received a total of 15 Points, was never muted, won 2 Homework Assignments in Episodes 3 and 6, and was a Top twice in Episodes 3 and 5 the Werk of Art and Celebrity Look-alike challenges.

2nd Place

Tajh

Tajh was the contestant with the second most amount of points earned on Season 1 of Painted with Raven placing him in 2nd Place overall as one of two runner ups alongside Yvonne. During his time on the season he received a total of 26 Points, was never muted, won 1 Homework Assignment in Episode 2 and was a Top thrice in Episodes 1, 2 and 7 the All That Sparkles, Paper Dolls, and Shock It To Me challenges.

and The Winner is…

Matt

Matt was the winner of Season 1 of Painted with Raven and the contestant with the most points overall receiving a total of 32 Points. During his time on the season he was never muted, and was a Top five times in Episodes 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 the All That Sparkles, Two Faced, Celebrity Look-alike, #Twinning, and Shock It To Me challenges. He was named the winner after Winning the final Fairy Tale Ball challenge.

Overall I loved Painted with Raven, it felt like a completely fresh take on the Make Up competition format, possibly because the MUAs did their make up from the comfort of their own home if felt more intimate. I felt like Raven was a fantastic judge, giving the right criticism when needed and never berating the contestants when they didn’t do great. It felt honest and insightful.

This does not mean I support Raven as an individual however as she has come under fire recently for partaking in the act of Blackfishing. This is where a non-Black individual purposely makes their skin darker than it is in order to reap the benefits off Black Beauty whilst using their white privilege to insert themselves in opportunities not available to Black individuals. As a white individual myself I of course don’t intend to speak over or for Black individuals on this subject I am simply informing those who don’t know about the recent controversies surrounding Raven are. We should always be listening to the Black community, so we can use their guidance as a starting point to better ourselves by taking the time to educate ourselves.

I’m no make up artist so most of the time I had no idea what techniques the contestants were doing but I found it easy to marvel at their creations. It was just an overly pleasant experience. The guest judges were all helpful as well and you could tell everyone was just having a good time. Not sending any contestant home was also a great idea it gave us more time to get to know them on an individual level and there wasn’t a single one I didn’t like by the end. This format is now an integral part of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7: All Winners and again it’s proving to be a success. I really hope they continue with this format going forward onto other seasons of not just Painted with Raven but the Drag Race franchise as a whole.

So that was my overview of Painted with Raven Season 1 I hope you enjoyed it. We will be coming back to present day after a little detour back to January by overviewing RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7, Vanjie: 24 Hours of Love Season 1 and Drag Race France Season 1 in the near future with this series. Until next time I wish you Bore Da, prynhawn da, noswaith dda or nos da wherever you are in the world byeee.
